gINT Trial has expired and now I can't open gINT
Problem
Our office recently purchased gINT Professional, and a few days ago our operator couldn't load gINT any more. The screen shows a window titled "gINT Professional Plus - Activation Status" and the error message is "Your 30 day trial of gINT Professional Plus has EXPIRED!"
As we don't own gINT Professional Plus, I'm confused as to how we are getting this error.
How can I change the program settings to load gINT Professional?
The operator's workstation is currently running Windows XP 32 bit, and i've attached the error message if it helps
Solution
This is a common problem, you have options:
Option 1 - Command line switch
See Desktop shortcut for each gINT product level
Option 2 - Reinstall
Uninstall and reinstall gINT, or install a newer version, and select the product you have a license for during installation.
Option 3 - Select.ini
1. Close gINT first.
2. Open file:
+ gINT 8.2 - C\:Program Files\Common Files\gINT Software\Products\Select.ini
+ gINT v8i (8.3) - C:\Users\Public\Documents\Bentley\gINT\System\Select.ini
3. They will need to edit the line that says "cache" and "last" if both exist. change the number to the appropriate product:
+ 1883 for gINT Logs
+ 1884 for gINT Pro
+ 1880 for gINT Pro Plus
4. Reopen gINT it may prompt them to activate if they never activated the true product the first time.
gINT version 08.30.03.XX aka V8i Ss1 resolves this by allowing gINT to open in "crippled" mode, and you can then use the Help menu to switch gINT products.
